The cardboard sleeves, paper jackets, and records have a very strong, unpleasant, moldy odor. I don't see any visible mold, however, if I leaf through the stacks, I start experiencing burning eyes, sneezing, stuffy nose, severe coughing, etc. Is there a way to get rid of that dreadful "moldy basement" smell, and get these records smelling fresh so I can use them? The records are currently kept in my home office in a clean, dry, temperature-controlled area. Is there a way to clean them? Or should they simply be thrown away? Are moldy-smelling records safe to keep?
