I have two sweatshirts with appliques that are too big on me and I was told by a friend that I could throw them in the wash in hot water and then throw them into the dryer on high and it would shrink. But I didn't want to do this first without making sure that the appliques would safe in this process. Would going through with this process distort or mess up the appliques in any way? If it matters, these are greek letter fabric appliques. And by distort or mess up, I mean like make the letters or colors all funky looking, or anything not normal.
