Open Question: Vacuum burning smell?

I bought a Eureka 4230 series vacuum a few weeks ago. It had been working great. I turned it on one day and after a few minutes it started making a burning smell. The filter cup is clean. The belt is fine and I emptyed it. I removed all the hair and strings from the brush. Why is it making that smell, how do I fix it? Other than the smell it works fine.

Open Question: my carpet smells like ass need help asap please?

some jack ass came to my house n spilled water all over my carpet and no one bothered to even put a rag over it and try to absorb it so now my carpet smells like dead rat. so i shampooed that area 5 times with numerous smelly good things n still smells horrbile. i dont have money to buy a new carpet cleaner so im hoping there is like a old fashioned way to get the disgusting smell out or somethin i can put in the carpet cleaner that will lift the smell. i also tried fanning out the area so it can dry quickly and that didnt work and i tried blowing it out hoping the heat will do the job but its a dead end either way i approach it
