Open Question: How do I get a rust stain out of white pants? and more... Open Question: How do I get a rust stain out of white pants?Open Question: does running hot water over dishes sanitize them?Open Question: What is your brand of electric clothes dryer and do you love it?How long have you had it? I am not looking for a gas dryer so please, no gas dryer responses so I can get a good sampling of brands. Thanks. Open Question: Anyone know an alternative to Rustiban for getting rust stains out of clothing?I have had this little bottle of Rustiban for years now and am down to my last few mls. It is the most amazing product for getting rust out of clothing without affecting the fabric colour. Just one drop and the rust stain covered disappears in seconds. Have used it on clothing, old linen, and even removed rust from tiles and some other items. Have now been told it has no longer available and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know of an alternative for getting rid of rust from fabrics? Have read a few other suggestions & home remedies - eg lemon juice and drying in the sun for whites, CLR, a concoction of different chemicals etc but again none that won't affect fabric colour. I'm using my last little bit sparingly but know the day is soon coming when I'm going to have to throw out clothing and other items that are otherwise perfect except for a little rust. Anyone got tried and true suggestions? Or if anyone has an old bottle of Rustiban out there I'd be willing to buy it! Tnx barbara p. Been told by few people that the lemon juice/sun thing can fade fabric unless it's white. Yes I use distilled water on rare occasions I do iron. [Try not to buy clothes that need it - if they do I hang them, make sure they're smoothed out as much as possible while wet, then fold or hang straight away when dry. Only iron as a last resort. Used to iron daily til frnd asked why on earth I wasted so much time on it! Took her hints & never turned back! But thats another story :)] It's not often I do get rust stains - why I've had the bottle so long - but recently I've used it about 6 times in the last month. Kids throwing wet clothes over metal railing, age spots on old heirloom tablecloth etc. But also been useful on a few other stains. Just yesterday found stain on my granddaughter's top - looked like mix of mould & some other goo. Couldn't get it out after pre-wash spray & soaking in Napisan so I thought 'Why not?' and hit it with Rustiban. Seconds later it was gone! More Recent Articles
