My husband accidently burnt homemade gravy in the bottom of my stainless steel pan. Its burnt on there good and I can not get it out for nothing. The only thing I have known to do is soak it in extremley hot water with dishsoap but after a few days this isnt helping at all! Does anyone have any suggestions to get this out I dont want to throw the pan away as it is less than a year old? Im up for anything at this point. Thanks.

Open Question: How do you remove tar from a tile floor?

So I work at the Rec center on my college campus, which recently opened last September. When they were building it, the parking lots were being re-done at the same time. The construction workers never bothered to wipe the tar off their shoes before coming inside... so the tar got tracked everywhere. I've been assigned to get it all off using a rag and paint thinner... which works great for small areas, but isn't convenient for the whole building. At the rate I've been going, it'll take me at least 6 hours to get it all up by morning. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make the process faster?

Open Question: Can you save more money/water using a dishwasher or washing by hand? How about if you factor in detergent?

Ugh, water bills are expensive. I know this isn't the most precise question, since the amount of water to compare probably depends on what my dishwasher is (Jenn-Air btw), and that me washing dishes by hand is subjective. When I do dishes by hand I try to not have the water going full blast (maybe about half or less), and it takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes of the faucet being on. Since I was a kid the dishwasher was usually for dish storage as opposed to washing. So now as an adult I've never actually used a dishwasher, besides testing it during inspection when I bought my house. I've been trying to conserve water when I wash dishes by hand, by filling up one side of the sink while I wash things and then turning off the water and using that to soak and scrub before turning the water back on to rinse off a stack of soapy dishes. Hoping to get some general advice on how I can save more money and conserve water for this particular chore. Thanks!
