Open Question: Are there Laundry room rules? and more... Open Question: Are there Laundry room rules? My wash room here has 3 washers and 3 dryers. I went in, and there was a lady in there using all 3 washers. So I said, oh, are you using all 3? And she said yes, so I left my baskets next to the washers, thinking that meant I was next. So, I waited 40 minutes and went back, and there she is, filling up all 3 washers, again. She knew I was waiting, and she still used all 3 washers. So, I waited 40 minutes and went back, and there she is again, but at least this time she left me ONE to use, when it's clear that I have loads and loads and loads to do. We were making small talk and I even said I hate laundry day with 3 kids, I have so much to do... What would you do? What would you say to her, or to the other family that does the same fricken thing every Saturday? I know we all have families, and I know we all have a lot of laundry, but is it ever ok to take up all of the washers, all day, with no regard to who else might need to use them? Wouldn't you at least leave one washer open? Am I just too nice? Grrr. Open Question: Getting smells out of books?I have about a half a dozen trade paperback books that a friend of mine gave me, but they smell powerfully of cigarette smoke. Anyone have ideas on how to remove the odor without damaging the books? I'd really like to read them, but as a former smoker I find the smell coming off of them unbearable and they'll have to be recycled if I can't get the smell out. Open Question: I spilled a jar of wax used for facial hair, legs, etc...?It spilled under my bathroom cabinet. Then proceeded to leak onto my tile floor. Any ideas what I can do to clean it up? I can't even think about starting the clean up. This type wax is sticky, like very very thick honey when room temp. Not like wax from candles. Open Question: Ball point pen all over a white chef jacket!!!! Help!!!?The other day I put my pure white (Worn once brand new) chef jacket in the washing machine and forgot I had a pen in the arm pocket. I didn't realise until I pulled the jacket out of the dryer and put it on. There were/are big blue spots of pen everywhere. Naturally you cannot wear a jacket in such a state to work so I had to borrow my boyfriend's chef jacket to go to work that day. After work I went to the local supermarket and brought some Sard soap and Janola. I scrubbed at the spots for hours and nothing much happened. Then I soaked it in Janola. Two days later the pen marks are still there! What can I do to get them out? Bleach doesn't work. Neither does Janola or Sard Soap. At the moment I have it sitting in white vinegar because the lady at the supermarket said that vinegar might work. If this doesn't work, what else should I try? Much appreciated.
