Open Question: How much did you save off your electric and water bill with a high energy efficient washing machine?

Another question, about energy efficient front loader washing machines, please. Roughly, would you say that you (people who own a washer like this), saw an immediate cost reduction in your power bill and water bill, like maybe 15% or 20% a month? This particular model spins the clothes so that they are nearly totally dried once they are washed, so I will not have to use the clothes dryer so often. If that is true, I'm hoping for maybe a 15%-20% visible, noticeable reduction in my power bill for the dryer and less water for the washer may mean a similar drop in the usage and cost of my water bill. Are my assumptions and expectations reasonable? Thanks.

Open Question: How do I clean my fabric shoes?

I have a lot of flat's that are canvas or other fabric and they get so dirty - I tried soap and water but that takes forever and doesn't get all of the dirt off. Tossing them in the washing machine is not an option cause I did that once and my shoes were ruined - any ideas?

Open Question: How to get grass stains/gasoline scent out of living room?

The lawn boy lost control and crashed right through the living room. Now there's grass stains all over the carpet and the smell of gasoline. It's been a week, and it still reeks. Also, there's a giant hole from where he crashed, but we're getting that fixed.

Open Question: What absorbs more water. A dry mop or a damp mop?

I routinely have to mop up spilt water at my workplace. I would prefer to start with a dry mop to get as much as possible, but it has been suggested that if I dampen the mop slightly, water will be more attracted to the mop head. Is that just a myth?

Open Question: How can I get rid of the bugs in the balcony?

Now that the weather is getting a lot warmer and nicer I'd love to open my balcony's doors and even maybe sit there for a while but today that I just stepped out I noticed there were LOTS of tiny bugs, kinda tiny mosquitoes I don't think they bite but they are a lot, maybe its because we are just in front of a lake but I'd like to get rid tof them, how about citronella? help please! I can even see a lot of them across the ceiling.
