Open Question: How often have you had to change or discard your Non-stick cookware ? WHY ?

Is there any way to lengthen the life of a non-stick pan ? Thanks in advance :) Thanks spyrd ! An additional Q : Although manufacturers recommend cleaning Only after the pan has cooled, I find that rubbing a wet kitchen towel over a hot pan actually cleans it much better - takes off the odors & residues, if any. Then, after it has cooled, I handwash with mild liquid soap. Is this okay?

Open Question: Does anyone have any tried and true remedies to get rid of the smell of cat urine in carpets?

My mom's cat is very old and has recently urinated on her carpet in the same place several times. She has moved the litter box upstairs so that he doesn't have to climb the steps any longer. But, she has used the pet store urine smell removers and still the smell lingers. Any ideas?
