Open Question: What was with this woman at the laundromat?

while at the laundromat today, i decided to use the maytag neptune front loaders, the ones that don't have a window to see your clothes being washed, just a big white steel windowless door. just as i closed the door and went to get change a woman came in with a basket of tea towels, school dresses and baby bibs. she loaded them into the washer, put her detergent and coins in. at this point i came in and put my coins in and selected the cycle. click went the door look and the clothes were sealed in and started washing. at this point i sat down just across from the washers with a few other women watching their washers spin and fill and rinse. all our attention focused onto the lady when she grabbed two tea towels out of the machine and threaded one down her pants and one down her shirt so they were hanging out and she looked like a giant tea towel. she then climbed pressed the permenant press cycle button and climed into the small drum with her clothes. tightly compacted in with the clothes she shifted the laundry so it was covering most of her. she then pulled the door and it slammed shut. almost three quarters of us stood up and watched with, some with out mouths open as we heard the door latch click and the Big LCD Screen on the top panel change from Price 3.00 to 32 Minutes remaining Door Locked Perm' Press cyle and the little WASH CYCLE Light lit up. at this point we heard the unmistakable sound of the machine filling with cold water and slowly tumbling. I quickly ran to the machine and tried to pry open the door, I yelled towards the washer "What are you doing?" and i heard "Go away, im being washed here. im fine ive down this before." at this point i thought ok and went back to the seats, everyone sat down. except for a few people who went to get clothes from washers or dryers. about 5minutes later a woman stood up walked over to her machine, grabbed her detergents and went back to the womans machine. she said, "if shes gonna be in there she might as well get a good clean." as she said this she lifted up the detergent lid and poured fabric softeners, soaking solutions and various other powders and fluids before sitting back down. after mine and her machines finished i was half way through emptying mine as the door swung open and she climbed out covered in clothes, wearing a school dress and a baby bib. she threw her clothes into the drier and sat down on the seats as i was leaving i walked past her she was drenched (obviously she didnt spin out well), and i could smell a strong smell of the detergent she put in th machine. what would make a women want to get into a wahing machine. especially a front loader? she could have drowned. i would never get in down. i saw how the other womens clotheswhere spinning through the windows, they were covered bleaching detergents and water and being spun at high speeds.

Open Question: how many times can i wear socks before i have to wash them?

also pants, shirts, t-shirts, and underwear. I don't like to do laundry, but my mom said that 28 years old is old enough to start "caring for myself" or something and now i have to do it myslelf. I no they don't smell bad because i don't smell anything even after a few days. but sometimes i spill mustard on them.

Open Question: What happens inside those Laundromat Washers?

While i was putting my laundry in a large front loader today at my local laundromat, a woman walked in with her basket of clothes. she went to one of those front loader machines that don't have a window on them. just the big dryer-like door. after she threw her clothes started and left, i could hear all these weird sounds coming from the washing like the clothes were being eaten by something. What do you think it would be like to be locked in that machine with her clothes? Being tumbled around with her clothes and detergent filled water? What would it feel like to be going through the wash cycle while all the other customers sat oblivious outside, wondering where you had gone? What would it feel like being washed in hot temperatures, spun at high speeds, Bleached and left locked inside with the clothes when the machine finishes until she decides to come collect you and the clothes to put them in the dryer.
