We have followed the instructions and mixed the carpet cleaner with water and then using the maching sprayed it on and then used the suction to get it up. We love the product because it cleaned so well and left a nice shine. Pledge no longer makes the product and I can find very few bottles left for sale on the web. We are now using Bona floor cleaner (http://www.bona.com/) for laminate floors, which works "ok", but doesn't leave the nice shine that the Pledge product did.
