Open Question: How can I get my house nice and clean?

I'm having my 13th birthday party in a couple months (October). But my house is kind of a mess. I constantly clean, but with my pig-pack-rat brother and both my parents working eight to ten hour days, it's hard to keep it like that. My house is a 1930's house, so it doesn't have a modern and efficient floor plan. My kitchen is a disaster too. It has carpeting from the 80's and dirty cheap counter tops, but we haven't had time or money to fix it. I'm not in any hurry, so any suggestions would be greatly appretiated. :):):) By the way, we don't have any odor problems but stains and crumbs are a problem:(
