Open Question: How can I make my clothes smell good?

My clothes are washed regularly. We use detergent and put a cup in the washing machine. We don't have a dryer so we hang up all of our clothes at home and they usually dry the next day. When they come out, they smell pretty good but in a few hours they have a bad odor. I am not sure if it is because we do not dry it or it is taking the smell of the house or something, but what can I use or how is it possible for our clothes to not smell? I want good smelling clothes but they usually smell awkward or bad, kind of like mold or something. Please help, thanks guys.

Open Question: Air Fresheners ALWAYS stop working !! Why ?

I am referring to the plug-in ones you keep indoors. They are always super-good the first one or two times and then it doesn't matter whatever i set the dial to its always barely a fair scent in the room. I tried plugging them into different outlets and setting different speeds but it makes little difference. It's a shame since I just bought an air wick one from costco that has 5 refills !
