Open Question: White residue on my black jeans. What's that?

I've noticed some white residue on my black jeans, especially in the knee area and on the bottom of the jeans. Is it a soap residue? I've tried washing my jeans with soap and rinsing with water several times but once it dries, I still see this residue on the jeans. What can I do about it? Thanks a lot.

Open Question: How do you clean your oven?

When my husband and I got married, my mother gave us her old stove and oven combo. It was really dirty when she gave it to us, and I do not know how to clean it because it does not have a self clean option in the heat. The highest it goes is broil. The reason I ask is because my mom said she cleaned it, but is is so dirty so her method of cleaning obviously did not work and I want one that does.
