Open Question: What is a good way to clean converse?

I have two pairs of converse, one has a mix of dried on clay, mud, and dirt, and the other pair has marker and faded sharpie, and they both have grass stains. I am a 13 year old, and I don't have the money to go out and by some silly shoe cleaning product that may not work. Nor do I want to mess them up in the washer. Is there any home solution I can make from household items, or possible just a household item its self that i could rub on my shoes or soak them in to get them clean?

Open Question: hoovering up creepy crawlies!?

i just had to deal with the biggest, flappiest most evil looking moth on the planet! With two little girls of 4 yrs and 7 yrs screaming and hubby still at work i had to be BRAVE!! Out came my henry hoover (as with spiders) and as i held the nozzle to the beast it withstood the suction!!!! aaahhh! I had to actually prod it to suck it in and when it went up i felt it thump past my hand Now im thinking is it still alive!!! Is it just me who hoovers up creepy crawlies and does it actually kill them?....
