Open Question: Is there any way to clear sand/grit/debris thats blocking my washing machine?I stupidly put a door mat in my washing machine and it has clogged the machine up with what i can only describe as a gritty, sandy and straw-like substance. The machine gave up halfway through the cycle and i had to manually empty it. When i run the cycle now it only drains really slowly but despite checking everywhere for blockages i am unable to find where its blocked. To start with there was no water coming through the filter even when the drum was full of water so i assumed the blockage was above the filter but after running many cycles it now passes through the filter and drains out painfully slow (trickle rather than gush!) When i set it to drain and hold the pipe over the sink the gritty sandy stuff is coming out so i guess its only partially blocked. I've even tried blasting water up the drainage pipe and that makes it drain faster for the next cycle but then it seems to clog again so i'm assuming the sandy stuff is settling and causing the blockage so is there any way to flush it quicker than keep repeatedly running an empty washing machine? I have got an engineer booked for Monday but with this weather set to stay i am doubtful they will get to me and the washing pile is mounting! Open Question: dying a mesh/netting material?I have a pink canopy sorta thing you hang from your ceiling and it drapes over your bed, well I want to dye it a light or dark blue, and I couldn't find any color remover or anything at any stores so I tried using bleach to remove the color, Didn't work. So I rinsed it out and said the hell with it and put it in a dye. Rit dye. But it wont take. Its like the pink just wont budge or fade. Its like a netting mesh material I don't know if thats the problem or anything. But is there a way to remove it to make it white and then dye it or does it need a special kind of dye because of what its made of? Btw it doesn't say what its made of, I gotten it from a friend. Open Question: How To Shrink Dark Cotton Pants without Fading?I've had these pants for a while but have never worn them. they are dark blue and cotton. what i want to know is how to shrink them but if i put them in hot will the pants fade? Open Question: Leather Ivy Cap Size Help?I recently bought a cheaper Ivy Cap to see if I liked the style. I really do like it, but it was in size XXL, and I really like the leather ones (Henschel Leather Driving Cap), but they don't make them in XXL. Does anyone know a web site that sells them in that size for under $70? More Recent Articles
