Open Question: 20 year old crocheted blanket that smells.?

My grandmother made it for me, it's in great shape, but smells. I wash in with regular laundry soap and air dry it, then it smells musty and like vinegar. If i dry it, even with fabric softner it still smells a few days later.Any idea what's going on , or how to fix?

I was idiot and left a wet cloth on top of my suede jacket. Now I have a wet stain in the middle of the back. Is there any home remedy to get the stain off? Should I bother going to the cleaners?
